If you’re familiar with this blog you’ll know I love a good erotic anthology because I’ve edited one, got a story in one and reviewed a few now. If you’re not then check out my other reviews when you’ve read this one if you like. Today it’s all about chocolate – yummy! Not only is this a great anthology but all the proceeds go to two brilliant charities – Brook the UK’s leading sexual health charity for young people under 25 (you might have read about them here already as we donate to them from the Erotic World Book Day anthology) and Chemical Sex is also donating to A is For which is a non profit organization dedicated to advancing women’s reproductive rights and ending the stigma against abortion care. Two very worthy causes indeed. So let’s get raising some money for them!
Unusually, I’m going to start by mentioning the cover for this book. I think it’s awesome, one of the best I’ve seen. So many erotic books have naff generic covers that don’t have anything really to do with what’s inside the book. (Is it just me who gets annoyed when the bloke on the front doesn’t even look like the character in the book? Anyway, I digress…) This cover is sharp and sexy and like Oleander says, “I could lick that cover, it’s delicious!” I could lick it too but actually I want to dip my finger in that chocolate and dribble it on interesting parts of my body. That is a really good way to start a book. So congratulations to Jacob Louder for producing it.
So as you can tell from the cover there is a theme to these stories, and that theme is chocolate. I know my man likes chocolate so obviously it’s not just a woman’s thing, but I think it’s fair to say that women have a more intimate relationship with chocolate than men do. (If that’s controversial please feel free to lambaste me in the comments). Because of that these stories resonated with me in very pleasurable ways. All I know is that I always love it, sometimes I crave it, when I resist it it’s painful and I only make myself miserable. Chocolate can be a comfort, exciting, loving and sexy. These stories are all that and much more. Every story contains chocolates that are aphrodisiacs – when I say I want some, I mean I want a truck load because I could taste every bite of those delicious chocolates as I read these stories.
So to the book… well it’s got some of my favourite writers in. That’s not to say it gets an automatic great review, it doesn’t. It’s getting a great review because it is HOT! It’s got a really nice mix of humour and intensity, which I would expect from Oleander seen as her stories and social media comments quite often make me laugh out loud. It also has stories about new and old relationships, as well as multiple partners which I love. Jacob Louder’s Thursday Threesome / Birthday Foursome really stood out for me as well as Tabitha Rayne’s The Dinner Guest and boy did I feel the heat in Tamsin Flowers’ The Stranger.
Each story uses the chocolate to explore different aspects of sexuality, relationships or creative ways to have sex. It’s a perfect mix of styles and ideal for picking up when you feel the need for some sexual chocolate a.k.a some alone time… OK well there you are, I’ve recommended it now go, read it, make yourself feel good and raise some money for charity while you’re at it!
It’s available in paperback as well as e-book format.
Thanks for reading,
