Misha Horne: Benched #5 Ground Rules

Benched #5

When I started this blog I did a few posts about my favourite authors. I mentioned Misha here, that was about three books ago in the Benched series.

I just finished reading Benched #5 Ground Rules and to say this series just keeps getting better is an understatement.

The series follows Kyle, a young baseball player who has bratty tendencies and realises early on that he loves a good spanking for a variety of reasons (don’t we all). It’s going to be written in nine parts like nine innings because Misha’s a bit of a self confessed baseball dork like that!

Each book moves his story on beautifully, developing his relationship with the gorgeous Juno. We’d all benefit from someone like Juno in our lives. He is truly one of the sexiest, loveliest characters I’ve read in a long time.

Benched #5 also goes a long way towards explaining what’s going on in Kyle’s surprisingly complicated head and his story is far from over.

A little insider information coming up…in Benched #6 we’re going to get a little more of Juno’s back story. But as Misha says, “Getting Juno to talk about himself is like pulling teeth, so he’s been holding onto some things for a while.” PLUS “There’s going to be a sex scene somewhere they definitely shouldn’t be having sex.” Sign me up! That sounds bloody good to me.

Misha’s writing just keeps getting better – I love her style. She doesn’t do soppy, but there are some lovely tender moments as well as hot sexy / spanky times in Benched #5. I for one am loving that combination.

So if you like M/M erotica with a heavy spanking content (what’s not to love? You’ve seen those baseball players asses, right?) Then this is the series for you. Start at the beginning and enjoy!

Thanks for reading,

Hot blogs: Quick picks

Hot blogs quick picks

I’ve only been blogging for a few months and before that I didn’t read any blogs – what was I doing with my life? (I was reading a shit tonne of erotica *cough*). Anyhoo… I have now discovered some absolute gems and I thought I’d share a selection of them with you. If, like me, you don’t have much time to look on the infinite black hole that is the internet, these links might be useful to you.

About Malin James:

Malin is the best kind of blogger, she writes beautifully, both erotic fiction and essays and she makes me think. I’ll be honest with you, I have to be on my A game when I read her blog, her intelligence shines through in her writing and if I’ve just come off a three hour stint of building lego with my three year old it takes me a while to shift gears! But I always make the time to read her posts. Classy, intelligent and entertaining (plus she rocks a corset).

About Exhibit A:

I don’t even know where to start with this guy. I’ve just read a couple of his erotic stories and I feel like I’m going to spontaneously combust. Hot doesn’t even cover it. I love the way he writes, it can be raw, dark and edgy or tender and sexy; whichever way it is, it hits a lot of my buttons. Reading his stuff makes me want to be twenty something again but this time with Skype, broadband and knowing what I do about my kinks now.

His post On My Sexuality (part 2) describes an interesting visit he had to Toronto. I spent a lot of time in Toronto in my twenties but not one of those trips included a bisexual threesome – unlike Exhibit A – I feel unreasonably disappointed in myself. I urge you to go and check his blog out, it’s insightful, sexy and funny.

About Girl On The Net:

I’m not going to say too much about GotN because she has more followers than the population of a small country so you’ll already know about her. What I will say is, she’s one of my favourite bloggers and she makes me laugh out loud –  a lot. Sexy, funny, uninhibited, raunchy and informative. Her book is great too.

About Go Deeper Daily:

Go Deeper Press’ daily blog with book excerpts, free erotic short stories, interesting blog topics and discussions. I just read the opening excerpt to Jacob Louder’s new book ‘M’ on there and holy shit it’s good. I 1-clicked it – couldn’t resist. There’s always something good to read on there, new authors to discover and it’s owned by two talented authors – Lana Fox and Angela Tavares (who writes as Jacob Louder).

Obviously these are just the tip of the iceberg, if you have any you’d like to share please comment. Hope you find something that interests you. Thanks for reading. Rx

An Intimate Education #EWBD Charity Anthology

An Intimate Education cover

It’s been a while since I mentioned this anthology that I edited with Emily Dubberley for Erotic World Book Day.

It’s packed full of 22 amazing pieces of diverse erotica – I reckon there’s something in there for everyone. All the stories were kindly donated by incredibly talented authors and I’ve got to say that editing it was a real *cough* pleasure. Honestly, I was a tingly mess most nights while I worked on it.

Here’s a little excerpt from my femdom story – A Lesson In Surrender

“Take off your coat and your t-shirt. I want to see you.”

He placed his clothes over the back of a chair by the door. The house was warm, but goose bumps still scattered on his skin. He stood before her, shoulders back, arms by his side. Her eyes showed her approval as they roamed over his lightly muscled chest and tight stomach.

“Turn around and put your hands on the wall.”

He turned, closing his eyes as he placed his hot hands on the cold surface. The tension across his back was almost unbearable; he needed her touch, but he knew he would have to wait.

He heard her heels click on the solid wood floor as she walked towards him.

“I’m going to teach you how to give in.” She whispered in his ear. Her warm breath caressing his neck.

Here’s a list of the authors in the anthology:

Anna Sansom

Lucy Felthouse

Charlotte Howard

Rebecca Black

Kay Jaybee

Madeline Moore

Cara Sutra

Helen J Perry & Adria Kane

Tabitha Rayne

A.M. Hartnett

Oleander Plume

Kayla Lords

Vanessa de Sade

James Gent

Anna Sky

Lily Harlem

Victoria Blisse

Rhyll Biest

Neil Davis

Lexie Bay

Paris Orsini

Emily Dubberley

That’s an amazing list, right? So many successful authors who all made time to write a piece for this anthology. All that talent makes the pages sizzle!

Please support a great charity by buying a copy. Enjoy! Rx

The Morning After #EWBD

EWBD banner

So it’s the morning after and I think the adrenaline that has kept me going for the past 5 weeks has started to wear off. Crash, bang, wallop! There may have been a few tears, but they were triggered by the kind words of the lovely Tabitha Rayne. So not such a bad thing really.

What a wild and crazy ride the past month has been. We went from Emily Dubberley’s small message on Facebook saying, what about celebrating erotica on World Book Day? To hundreds of people being involved in the discussion group, writing a story then editing 21 more for the anthology, the stress of trying to get it ready and uploaded in time for the party (Kev Blisse you’re awesome), getting Brook on board, preparing for the Facebook party, hosting part of it, people / organisations donating over £1500 worth of prizes (Cara Sutra you’re amazing) and getting mentioned in loads of blogs and the national press!!! My head is spinning.

The amount of people who have been involved has been staggering and everyone has worked so hard to pull everything together, tweeting and sharing posts and getting the word out about what we were trying to do. The erotica community is strong and supportive; I’m so proud and happy to be a part of it.

An Intimate Education cover

Anyway, if you missed it, we had the Erotic World Book Day Party on Facebook last night where we launched An Intimate Education: an anthology of 22 stories from some truly fantastic erotic authors. It’s climbing the Amazon charts as we speak after an absolutely fantastic response from people last night. All profits go to Brook, a sexual health education charity for young people. They do great work and I’m really happy to be part of something that’s raising money for them.

We also released the list that we compiled over the last month 100 Modern Erotic Classics That you’ve Never Heard Of. What I love the most about this list is its diversity, there’s something on there for everyone. It caters to different kinks, sexualities and fantasies. I’m going to be working my way through it over the next year.

The party is over but we still have work to do. It’s looking like #EWBD will be back next year. Just think what we’ll be able to do with so much time to plan! Exciting times ahead. Here’s the website if you want to keep up with what we’re doing. eroticworldbookday.co.uk

Thank you for all your support and a massive shout out to Emily Dubberley who drove it all forwards to make the idea a reality!

A World of Erotica: Beyond 50 Shades

blurry image of 50 shades bk cover

With the upcoming film release of 50 Shades everyone’s either talking about it or trying to ignore it. Apparently, even fire-fighters are ready for the erotic onslaught http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-31428072! There have been some insightful blogs (see girlonthenet) and some hilarious 50 Shades inspired articles and videos (see Krista McHarden’s Cosmo piece and the Trojan condom ad).

The silver-tie-laden bandwagon is fast rolling into every town to deliver spanks and a little lashing of media sensation. But is the controversy worth it? Crucially, are the books worth reading? Will the film be worth watching?

I fall firmly into the –  I read the books, (once 3 years ago). I liked them (didn’t love them), I’ll go and see the film – to see how they handle the content and because I want to be able to form my own opinion rather than read other people’s – camp.

I have no issue with people who love the 50 Shades series (my mother-in-law has just finished reading them for the third time!) and I don’t want people telling me what I should and shouldn’t read; what I should or shouldn’t like. If they did, there’d be no gentle initiation – they’d get a clear and distinct “Fuck Off!” from me.

reading is sexy

Like many readers, it was one of the first books that I read that involved BDSM. It whet my appetite for more and I rapidly realised from reading more complex books that 50 Shades is only the tip of the iceberg as far as D/s relationships go in erotica.

My only issue with it, and really my issue is with the media rather than the book, is that society has reduced erotica down to this singular series of books. We need to look beyond billionaires (when did being a millionaire not measure up by the way?), grey ties and bondage paraphernalia (although it does have its moments *cough*).

It wasn’t just Christian’s ‘red room of pain’ door that was opened – a world of erotica has beckoned for many. That is a good thing. Let freedom ring with the sound of chains on bedposts!

Erotica is such an incredibly diverse genre, from BDSM to paranormal, menage to an amazing range of LGBT stories. I am a passionate reader and writer of erotica. I love it and wish that it was more widely acceptable. But recently I found out that an online friend has been turned down for a job because she reads and blogs about erotica. So even though everyone and their mother-in-law has read 50 Shades, we’re still not really ‘ok’ with it. (That’s a whole other blog).

It’s a crazy world and I don’t pretend to understand it half the time. But what I will do is promote erotica in my little space on the net for all I’m worth. I get excited about some books and I love to share that. I think it’s fantastic when another reader loves a book that I recommend; I’d just love to see some of these books that I love hitting the best seller lists too.

So here’s the main point of this blog, forget the Fifty Shades furore for a moment. There’s something more promising than watching a dysfunctional billionaire and it is happening on March the 5th.

EWBD banner

It is my hope that as many of you as possible will join me and an amazing range of erotic writers on March 5th to celebrate Erotic World Book Day. Go and like the page and we’ll keep you posted about the upcoming event. Some fantastic British authors are involved, Emily Dubberley, Lucy Felthouse, Maxim Jacubowski, Cara Sutra (award winning sex blogger) and plenty from the other side of the pond.

We’ll be producing a Top 100 Contemporary Erotica Books list, and most exciting of all an anthology ‘An Intimate Education’ (all proceeds going to the fantastic sexual health charity – Brook). There will be a Facebook party, amazing prizes and giveaways (seriously the prizes are awesome lots of sex toys and books) There will also be lots of naughtiness and huge potential for spanking innuendo!

We should harness the attention being lavished on the erotic tale of Anastasia and take people beyond 50 Shades into the spankingly exciting world of the erotica books we know and love. Come and share that love with us on March 5th and find some new erotic books to read.

5* Review: ‘Craving Talon: 69 Bottles’ #2 by Zoey Derrick

Rock hard once again with Zoey Derrick’s sizzling hot rock & roll series!

The story picks up as 69 Bottles continues their tour, riding a surge of success thanks to an impromptu duet between Talon and Addison.

It’s a crazy turn of life for Addison Beltrand, who’s always lived to work and worked to live. Now, everything is shifted upside down—and that’s not a bad thing. Stepping on the 69 Bottles tour bus has banished the heartache of her past, and feels like a rocking new beginning.

Talon Carver and Kyle Black couldn’t agree more. The band’s lead singer and manager are falling hard for the beautiful rock chick, and will do anything to keep her in their bed—and between their bodies—forever.

The trio’s blissful bubble is popped by a danger nobody has anticipated. The band’s security team, always watchful for fan attacks on the members, isn’t prepared for what happens to Addison during this leg of the tour. Will Kyle and Talon be able to help save Addison? Or will her fear force her to pack her bags and return to LA?

Everything hinges on her decision…

Two men. One woman. A rock band. A tour bus. One Wild Ride…

My Review:

…. that I enjoyed very much! Addison, Talon and Kyle’s relationship continues to develop in ‘Craving Talon’. The three of them make big steps together, but Talon and Kyle’s physical and emotional relationship goes forward in leaps and bounds. Zoey Derrick allows the characters to question their feelings and makes each step believable for the reader. I loved the scenes between Talon and Kyle they were sexy and at times pretty damn sweet.

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews you’ll know that I love a good bisexual menage and I raved about the sex scenes in ‘Claiming Addison’, well… I’m amazed to say, Zoey surpassed herself in this book. Oh my god! The sex scenes are unbelievably hot, fan yourself down, take a cold shower hot!! Addison gets to show her moves, this girl is in no way submissive or overpowered in this relationship. She has her own ideas and follows through with them, much to the delight of Talon and Kyle (and myself!)

As well as their relationship, we see big decisions for Addison regarding her singing career. There are some fabulous scenes where she sings with Talon, I got all tingly when she walked on stage. Zoey Derrick conveys the excitement and adrenaline rush of performing in front of huge audiences beautifully. But along with Addison’s new fame comes pressures and unforeseen dangers that have to be overcome. It all adds to the great, fast pace of the book.

So, to sum this book up – it’s sexy, smoking hot and full of characters that you want to see succeed. If you’re new to 69 Bottles go back and read ‘Claiming Addison’. If you’ve already read it then I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you to grab a copy of this book. The story continues and it’s awesome.

I can’t wait for the third book ‘Redeeming Kyle’ which will be released on 31st March 2015. I’m totally hooked on this series 🙂

‘Forbidden’ (Under the Skin #2) Blog Tour: Interview with Charlotte Stein

Forbidden - Front CoverBlog Tour Banner

About Charlotte:

Charlotte Stein is the acclaimed author of over thirty short stories, novellas and novels, including the recently DABWAHA nominated ‘Run To You’ and RT nominated ‘Intrusion’ (Under the Skin #1) . When not writing deeply emotional and intensely sexy books, she can be found eating jelly turtles, watching terrible sitcoms and occasionally lusting after hunks.

I’m a big fan of Charlotte Stein’s. A couple of her books are on my ‘all time favourite’ list. The books on that list are pretty special to me so I was really excited to get the opportunity to do this little interview during the blog tour for ‘Forbidden’. So, thanks Charlotte.

Imagine me sat legs crossed, pen poised over pad, two mugs of strong Yorkshire tea in front of us….

1) Did you enjoy writing Forbidden? What were the challenges you faced with this book?

I absolutely LOVED writing this story. The only real challenges I faced were in terms of logistics setting and timings and where they should be on their little road trip. But the thing I thought would be hardest, building the explosive tension between them actually came really quickly.

2) How do you see your style evolving in the writing of this book and through the Under The Skin series?

I really struggle with thinking of myself as a writer who is progressing and developing. Mostly I spend my time being pretty hard on myself, so I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much satisfaction I got out of writing this series, and how much I’ve felt that it is stronger than a lot of things I’ve written previously. I think for the first time I really attempted to layer in outside elements and hints of other genres I’d like to explore like romantic suspense and gothic horror and it’s been a lot of fun.

3) What made a West Yorkshire lass decide to have the narrator in ‘Forbidden’ from the ‘deep south’?

She just came to me! She just kind of walked into my head, fully formed.

4) Why did you choose the hero to be a sexy almost – priest?

Well, I’ve always wanted to write one. But the less cool, serious answer is that I saw a little known movie called The Rite. It’s completely terrible and dull and silly, but I found myself utterly gripped because of the hero in it. He’s quite intense and vulnerable and fierce and oh my god hot as balls, and he just stayed with me as my hero inspiration.

5) What do you want your readers to think and feel after reading this book?

I hope they’ll feel the same thing I would always like them to go away with: a sense that love and passion is real and possible and full of joy and escape from whatever terrible thing might have happened in the course of the book. Or even just in every day life.

6) Summarise Forbidden for eager readers in one sentence.

He is everything she is forbidden to have.

Reviews: ‘Not Her Type’ and ‘Take Control’ by Kay Jaybee

Kay Jaybee has written over 70 short stories and 14 solo publications, so if you’re new to Kay and you like these books, you’ve got a huge back catalogue to read. She’s well known for ‘The Perfect Submissive’ trilogy (Xcite) and is one eighth of the brilliant Brit Babes. Her writing has a distinctly British feel to it, so expect a bunch of sexy ‘arses’ and ‘bottoms’ rather than ‘asses’ and ‘butts’!

Screenshot 2015-01-10 at 13.12.15

Not Her Type is a classic tale of opposites who attract. Jenny is a well educated woman who has secluded herself from the world after a series of difficult relationships; John is a rough around the edges courier who delivers her DVDs every week (I want that service *cough*). They begin the story as friends, but the story rapidly becomes about their sexual explorations.

Kay Jaybee isn’t shy about exploring a wide variety of kinks and pushing some boundaries. Not Her Type has M/F, M/F/F and F/F scenes; there’s some light bondage and spanking; masturbating in public; and one particular kink that will probably not be everyone’s cup of tea. I had a moment where I thought, “did he really just say he was going to do that?!” But Jaybee doesn’t draw the scene out, so even though it’s not my thing, it didn’t really bother me.

The sex is pretty raw and basically a series of short, hard fucks. I never felt like I connected emotionally with the characters. I want that most of the time when I read erotica, but sometimes I’m happy to just go with the physical – this was one of those times. The sex was definitely hot and there was more than one scene that got me all tingly. The sheer desperation and urgency they feel for each other is a turn on in itself.

Jenny and John’s relationship raises the question: is sex alone ever enough? The sex she’s having with John rapidly takes over Jenny’s life to the point where she can think of little else.

She’s confused about her sexuality, she’s confused about John. The sex is the only thing that makes sense. This book is heavy on the sex and light on story, but to be honest I got all that I needed from the plot and it drives the book forward to a more than satisfactory ending. I liked the ending and thought it was pretty realistic considering the characters thoughts and actions throughout.

Overall, I enjoyed Not Her Type it’s a hot piece of erotica that does what it intends to. I am very glad that Kay Jaybee has such a fertile imagination.

Personally, Christmas wrapping paper will never seem quite so innocent again.

4 stars – recommended read

 Screenshot 2015-01-10 at 13.19.00

Take Control has five short imaginative stories catering to all sorts of kinks. They are primarily about dominance and submission, but they also explore other elements of erotic play.

Much to my delight, Kay Jaybee seems to be a big fan of multiple partner scenes: making ‘Dinner With Tess’ and ‘Staged’ my favourite stories in this collection.

Dinner With Tess’ is a bisexual menage (my favourite kind) and it is definitely hot. I wanted more M / M action which was a bit of an unfulfilled tease, but I guess it’s the wrong collection of stories for that particular kink. It was very enjoyable none the less.

There are a couple of stories that are more sensual, ‘Deluged’ and ‘The Necklace’ (which is also a menage). These were well written with evocative language. I felt every drop of water and sting of hail on Beth’s skin and it made me long for a summer thunderstorm.

The Experiment’ is a voyeur’s delight which ends with a nice surprise.

A quick enjoyable read; easy to pick up and put down whenever the urge may take you.

4 stars – recommended read

I received these books from the publisher in exchange for an honest and fair review.

Three of the Best – Erotica Authors #1

No reviews or blurbs on this page. Just the title and author info so you can go and explore for yourself if you so desire. I haven’t read all the books that these authors have written. I’m only recommending the ones that I have read.

I love finding a good new author with an extensive back catalogue to work through. Hopefully, you’ll find something you like here.

In this post: Charlotte Stein, Cara McKenna and Misha Horne.

Charlotte Steinwww.charlottestein.net also find her on twitter @Charlotte_Stein

I love Stein’s books. She has a unique voice. Often writing in first person point of view, the reader gets a very intimate insight into the characters feelings and sexual encounters. Intelligent and at times laugh out loud funny her books are just a hot joy to read. A go to author for me.

She writes mainly M/F and menage; the best of which are bisexual – HOT that’s all I’m saying. Stein has over thirty short stories, novellas and novels so there’s a wide selection to choose from.

My best picks for Charlotte’s books are:

Make Me – M/M/F bisexual menage. One of my all time favourite books. So hot and intense. Love it!

All Other Things – M/M/F bisexual menage

Control – menage (small elements of M/M/F bisexuality). All I’m saying is “Oh, Gabe” (sigh).

Telling Tales – M/M/F bisexual menage (threesome and M/M/F/F foursome).

Intrusion – M/F new series called Under The Skin. Darker than usual with the hint of a thriller. Other books due out in this series.

Curve Ball – M/F

Cara McKenna: www.caramckenna.com also find her on twitter @caramckenna

I’m a BIG fan of McKenna’s books: they’re intelligent, dark, edgy and seriously hot. She’s good with blue collar alpha males. They’re often a bit mean and a bit moody but they’ve got big hearts and ultimately give their partners what they want in the sack *shiver* works for me every time. The first book of hers I read was ‘Willing Victim’ it blew me away. She has a real talent for exploring the sexual psychology of her main characters. You really understand their sexual journey. It’s not always a comfortable journey but it’s always worth it. I fall in love with her rough and ready characters every time. Again, she has a decent sized back catalogue, so here are a few I really like to get you going.

My best picks for Cara’s books are:

Dirty Thirty M/M/F bisexual menage. This is just an awesomely hot book. One of my all time favourites in this sub genre.

After Hours – M/F

Willing Victim – M/F

Backwoods / Shivaree / Getaway – M/M and M/M/F bisexual menage. HOT!!! Shane was the one who did it for me in these books.

Hard Times – M/F

Misha Horne: Amazon page also find her on twitter @mishahornebooks

Misha is a new author I discovered through twitter. I’m pretty new to M/M erotica but it’s rapidly becoming a favourite sub-genre. She writes M/M stories with a lot of spicy spanking going on! Her Benched series is HOT! Baseball, hot men and – well… spanking. What more do you want?? I love her books and I hope you will too.

My best picks for Misha’s books are:

Benched #1 (series of 4 currently) – M/M

Smart Boy – M/M written with AJ Sisko. They have plans to write more together in 2015.

Bad Boys Get Spanked (Gay spanking bundle) – M/M
