Tabitha Rayne: Erotic Author and Artist

Tabitha Rayne is an incredibly talented lady. Not only does she write steamy hot erotica, but she is also an erotic artist, entertaining blogger and a genuinely lovely person. She makes me laugh and her lovely, supportive words have made me cry (I was tired and emotional – she didn’t mean to!)

Tabitha Rayne art That Moment

That moment… by Tabitha Rayne

Tabitha is a member of the Brit Babes, a group of British erotica authors who have released several anthologies together. Their free book, ‘Sexy Just Walked Into Town‘, was my introduction to Tabitha and her short story ‘The Scribe’ is actually one of my all-time favourites. It is a sensual, erotic tale of a woman’s need to paint her arousal on her body until the ink drying on her skin feels like “…being licked by a tiny angel.” She has a wonderful way with words, imaginative, sometimes amusing, sometimes dark and edgy; but always hot and oh lordy does she know how to write good sex!

Her work ranges from dystopian erotic fantasy, in ‘The Meeting Place’ trilogy, to her take on billionaires, in ‘Sexy Just Got Rich‘, and naughty ghosts in ‘Mia’s Books‘. Check out her book list here. Tabitha also contributed a fantastic story to the Erotic World Book Day anthology, ‘An Intimate Education‘ (all proceeds go to the sexual health charity Brook).

Clockwork Butterfly cover

She is one of the few authors where I enjoy her blog almost as much as her stories. There was was one post that resonated with me early on and has stuck with me ever since. She wrote it around the time of the Blogger censorship debacle. The Spectre is an eloquent piece about the constrictions of censorship and the effect it has on the people who are censored. After I read that piece, my curiosity piqued, I had a look around her blog only to discover her erotic drawings. Go take a look – they’re beautiful. Long may she continue to write, draw and create because the world would be a very dull place without her work.

5* Reviews: ‘A Different Kind of Cosplay’ and ‘Multi-Orgasmic’ by Lucy Felthouse

‘A Different Kind of Cosplay’ blurb:

Zachary has a dilemma. His girlfriend, Reese, has a special birthday coming up soon and he has absolutely no clue what to get for her. It doesn’t help that Zach does not share or really understand Reese’s biggest hobby—comic books, superheroes and everything that goes with them. Zach raids Reese’s DVD collection for inspiration, and what he finds there gives him an idea…possibly the best one he’s ever had.

Sure, Reese has fantasized about her favourite superheroes. All those muscles and rakish smiles are to die for. She didn’t think Zach would ever really understand, though. But he proves her wrong in the best way possible.

My Review:

‘A Different Kind of Cosplay’ ticked all sorts of boxes for me. I love the Marvel films, Iron Man (I’ve got a thing for RDJ), Thor (I might have a bit of a thing for Chris Hemsworth too). So when I started reading and realised that Reese, our heroine, also had some serious fantasies about them, I felt an instant connection and I loved her for it. Although I think it’s pertinent to point out that her fantasies didn’t involve the actors but the actually marvel characters. This is where the cosplay comes in. For those of you new to this like me, it’s where people dress up as superheroes and role play pretending to be a fictional character (usually a sci-fi, comic book, or anime character).

The majority of the book is written from Zach’s point of view. I think Lucy has written a real gem in Zachary. He is a fantastic hero, sexy and confident, loving and tender, funny and irreverent. I really wanted to take him and his costumes home. He does what every person would love their partner to do for them; he puts Reese’s thoughts and desires above his own.

The sex scenes are numerous and really well written *cough* I might have got a bit hot and flustered while reading it. Thor – that’s all I’m saying. Lucy had to get creative for various reasons and the humour that shines through is wonderful and definitely added to the whole enjoyment of the book for me.

So I’m giving ‘A Different Kind of Cosplay’ 5 shiny stars ***** I loved it.

multiorgasmic ‘Multi-Orgasmic’ blurb:

From the pen of award-winning erotica author Lucy Felthouse comes a collection of short stories and flash fiction sure to hit the spot.

There’s something for everyone nestling between the pages of this sexy anthology. From spanking to voyeurism, bondage to pegging, solo loving to ménage, with a sprinkling of femdom, maledom and magic, fans of M/F erotic stories will soon discover why this book is described as multi-orgasmic.

Enjoy twenty one titillating tales, over 52,000 words of naughtiness packed into one steamy read.

Please note: Many of the stories in this book have been previously published in anthologies and online, but three of the tales are brand new and never-seen-before!

My Review:

‘Multi-Orgasmic: A Collection Of Erotic Short Stories’ is a quality read from start to finish and a really good way to get a taste of what this author is about if you’ve never read her before. Like any collection of stories, each reader will have their favourites, but what is constant is they’re extremely well written and well crafted. There is a real skill to writing shorts, you have to draw the reader in quickly, get them to care about the characters and give them what they want which in this case is some hot, steamy sex, in just a few thousand words. Not easy. Lucy Felthouse does all of the above with style and there’s bound to be something to suit most people in this book. Something I noticed reading this, is that Felthouse writes really well from the male perspective. She mixes it up which keeps it interesting.

In ‘Multi-Orgasmic’ you’ll find: a soldier lusting after his female superior, threesome action, a voyeur on a bus, a couple’s first sex toy experience, a returning soldier’s need for his domme, al fresco sex, erotica spicing up a long term couple’s sex life (that sounds familiar!), pegging (my personal favourite) and many more…

It’s a book you can read all at once or as and when you like. I liked it a lot!

5***** highly recommended read – my personal favourite ‘Why I Love Her’.

Reviews: ‘Not Her Type’ and ‘Take Control’ by Kay Jaybee

Kay Jaybee has written over 70 short stories and 14 solo publications, so if you’re new to Kay and you like these books, you’ve got a huge back catalogue to read. She’s well known for ‘The Perfect Submissive’ trilogy (Xcite) and is one eighth of the brilliant Brit Babes. Her writing has a distinctly British feel to it, so expect a bunch of sexy ‘arses’ and ‘bottoms’ rather than ‘asses’ and ‘butts’!

Screenshot 2015-01-10 at 13.12.15

Not Her Type is a classic tale of opposites who attract. Jenny is a well educated woman who has secluded herself from the world after a series of difficult relationships; John is a rough around the edges courier who delivers her DVDs every week (I want that service *cough*). They begin the story as friends, but the story rapidly becomes about their sexual explorations.

Kay Jaybee isn’t shy about exploring a wide variety of kinks and pushing some boundaries. Not Her Type has M/F, M/F/F and F/F scenes; there’s some light bondage and spanking; masturbating in public; and one particular kink that will probably not be everyone’s cup of tea. I had a moment where I thought, “did he really just say he was going to do that?!” But Jaybee doesn’t draw the scene out, so even though it’s not my thing, it didn’t really bother me.

The sex is pretty raw and basically a series of short, hard fucks. I never felt like I connected emotionally with the characters. I want that most of the time when I read erotica, but sometimes I’m happy to just go with the physical – this was one of those times. The sex was definitely hot and there was more than one scene that got me all tingly. The sheer desperation and urgency they feel for each other is a turn on in itself.

Jenny and John’s relationship raises the question: is sex alone ever enough? The sex she’s having with John rapidly takes over Jenny’s life to the point where she can think of little else.

She’s confused about her sexuality, she’s confused about John. The sex is the only thing that makes sense. This book is heavy on the sex and light on story, but to be honest I got all that I needed from the plot and it drives the book forward to a more than satisfactory ending. I liked the ending and thought it was pretty realistic considering the characters thoughts and actions throughout.

Overall, I enjoyed Not Her Type it’s a hot piece of erotica that does what it intends to. I am very glad that Kay Jaybee has such a fertile imagination.

Personally, Christmas wrapping paper will never seem quite so innocent again.

4 stars – recommended read

Take Control has five short imaginative stories catering to all sorts of kinks. They are primarily about dominance and submission, but they also explore other elements of erotic play.

Much to my delight, Kay Jaybee seems to be a big fan of multiple partner scenes: making ‘Dinner With Tess’ and ‘Staged’ my favourite stories in this collection.

Dinner With Tess’ is a bisexual menage (my favourite kind) and it is definitely hot. I wanted more M / M action which was a bit of an unfulfilled tease, but I guess it’s the wrong collection of stories for that particular kink. It was very enjoyable none the less.

There are a couple of stories that are more sensual, ‘Deluged’ and ‘The Necklace’ (which is also a menage). These were well written with evocative language. I felt every drop of water and sting of hail on Beth’s skin and it made me long for a summer thunderstorm.

The Experiment’ is a voyeur’s delight which ends with a nice surprise.

A quick enjoyable read; easy to pick up and put down whenever the urge may take you.

4 stars – recommended read

I received these books from the publisher in exchange for an honest and fair review.

Happy New Year… Three of the Best – Erotic Authors #3

Dear All,

Happy New Year to you!!

Here’s hoping 2015 = lots of happy reading for us all.

I love finding a good new author with an extensive back catalogue to work through. Hopefully, you’ll find something you like here.

No reviews or blurbs on this page. Just the title and author info so you can go and explore for yourself if you so desire. I haven’t read all the books that these authors have written. I’m only recommending the ones that I have read.

In this post: Lauren Dane, Red Phoenix and Kelly Jamieson

Lauren Dane: also find her on twitter @laurendane

Dane writes books of different heat levels so I’m just going to mention her erotic fiction here. The Brown Family series is her best I think. Great characters and hot sex!

My best picks for Lauren’s books are:

Laid Bare – M/F then M/M/F menage (small element of bisexuality).

Laid Open – M/M/F bisexual menage. Same characters as Laid Open. The menage scenes in this book are fabulous!

Screenshot 2014-12-23 at 22.11.42

Red Phoenix: also find her on twitter @redphoenix69

I really like Red’s series Brie Learns the Art of Submission. I’ve read a few of her stand alones and they’re good too. They’re hot and often kinky books but they never forget the romance. If you’re new to the whole BDSM D/s thing then this series is a pretty good place to start.

My best picks for Red’s books are:

Brie Learns the Art of Submission: The Training Centre (all 9 stories of the first series in one book) – a bit of all sorts in here to be honest. D/s, BDSM, lots of kink but ultimately Brie’s story is about falling in love with her Sir. You can buy them individually if you want.

And Then He Saved Me – hot little story about two lonely people who find and heal each other M/F.

Kelly Jamieson: also find her on twitter @KellyJamieson

Kelly writes great contemporary romance and really hot bisexual menage. Her books are sweet and romantic with a whole bucket load of sex. Rule of Three nearly set my hair on fire!!

My best picks for Kelly’s books:

Rule of Three (series of three books) – M/M/F bisexual menage HOT!!! The three books follow the same characters as their relationship develops.

Rigger – M/F ropes and lots of ‘em! One of my favourite books about the beauty of bondage.

Breakaway #1 (Heller Brothers Hockey series) – I love a good sports romance especially if it’s got great athletic sex in it!! Five books in this series and I loved them all.

Previous posts include: #1 Charlotte Stein, Cara McKenna and Misha Horne.

#2 Maya Banks, Lorelei James and Marie Harte

Three of the Best – Erotica Authors #2

I love finding a good new author with an extensive back catalogue to work through. Hopefully, you’ll find something you like here.

In this post: Marie Harte, Maya Banks and Lorelei James

No reviews or blurbs on this page. Just the title, link to Amazon and author info so you can go and explore for yourself if you so desire. I haven’t read all the books that these authors have written. I’m only recommending the ones that I have read.

Marie Harte: also find her on twitter @MHarte_Author

Harte writes a lot of paranormal books as well as contemporary romance (I think she’s written over 100 in total). I haven’t read anywhere near that but there are a few series of hers that I love – The McCauley Brothers, Wicked Warrens, and The Works. The books I have chosen are really good contemporary romances with hot, sizzling sex. Some kink involved.

My best picks for Marie’s books:

Working Out (The Works) – M/F D/s

Raising The Bar (Wicked Warrens) – M/M and M/M/F bisexual menage. HOT!!

Making The Grade (Wicked Warrens) – M/F Kinkiness with a third.

Bending The Rules (Wicked Warrens) – M/F with some M/M/F menage.

Screenshot 2014-12-23 at 21.58.16

Maya Banks: also find her on twitter @maya_banks

Well I can’t write about erotica authors and not mention Maya Banks. I read a lot of her books a few years ago when I first got into this genre. She has written a lot so if you’re new to her you’ve got a lot to choose from. I started with The Sweet series and her menage novels. She loves a good anal scene and lots of kink so her books are not for the faint hearted! (‘Coalter’s Daughter’ springs to mind). There’s more than one with a go to sex scene in it if I want some alone time with my vibrator.

My best picks for Maya’s books:

Sweet Surrender – mainly M/F with a  M/M/F menage scene. BDSM. D/s

Sweet Persuasion – mainly M/F. BDSM. Exploring a D/s relationship.

Be With Me – HOT!!! M/M/M/F menage.

Soul Possession – scorching M/M/F menage.

Screenshot 2014-12-23 at 22.01.16

Lorelei James: also find her on twitter @loreleijames

Lorelei’s Rough Riders series is a must read for anyone with even a slight love of cowboys. It’s contemporary western romance and all the stories are connected by a very large extended family called the McKay’s. There’s a lot of menage in there, kinky happenings with rope (obviously they’re cowboys / grew up on a ranch) and let’s just say they’re all dominant alpha males. There’s a lone female McKay in there too.

My best Rough Riders picks:

Rough, Raw and Ready – OMG! This was my first bisexual menage and well let’s just say it had a lasting effect on me. Worth reading the other books for back story but not necessary. Trevor, Edgard and Chassie’s story.

Shoulda Been A Cowboy – Cam’s story. D/s some M/M/F menage.

Cowgirl Up and Ride – AJ and Cord’s story.
